- An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the open-ended Richter scale shook western Greece on Tuesday, the Athens Geodynamics Institute said. No casualties or damage were reported after the tremor struck at 09:35 GMT, neither in the nearby city of Patras nor at the site where the 2.2 kilometer Rio-Antirio bridge, one of the world's largest suspension bridges, is currently under construction.

- An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale rocked Taiwan Tuesday, seismologists said. There were no reports of damage or casualties. The tremor struck at 1:51 PM (0551 GMT) with an epicenter 16.8 kilometers (10.42 miles) southeast of Hsilin in eastern Hualien County, the Seismology Center said.
